We received an e-mail from our Social Worker this week informing us that our homestudy has been requested by the main office (our agency's main office) to be sent at the end of September. Our social worker told us, "it's time to make a decision, you either need to move forward or place yourselves on hold". Apparently she was able to request our state background check be expedited so everything will be ready by then.
So, even though life is hectic, and we have been facing some other uncertainties we decided to GO FOR IT! What does this mean? It means we could receive a referral anytime after our homestudy is sent to the main office. It could happen in September, or if the agency doesn't receive any referrals in late September, or any girl referrals, then it could be later. Barring any unusual delays a referral is likely to happen before the end of this year.
Then there is some paperwork which must occur (on our part and in Korea) before the baby is ready to come home...likely 2-4 months post referral. As I discussed earlier our agency received 9 referrals in July so we will be waiting somewhat anxiously to see how soon travel happens for those families.
The funny thing is that although I'm excited I feel highly reserved at this point, I think because I know how easy it is for time lines to change in a heartbeat. With Alex we got caught up in law changes, experienced delays both before and after accepting his referral, and then even experienced a scare while in Russia with our court date. Also things have been crazy busy with the semester starting up, as well as it being a very busy time at work...so I have other things to keep me occupied.
My guess is that in a few weeks to a month panic may start to set in as I begin to realize how much I have to do to get ready for this child! And no, we haven't thought of names yet...when it gets closer I'll do a post on our possibilities :)
